 Jobsite COVID-19 Updated Safety Protocol – April 2020 

In an effort to maintain worker health and safety, and to follow updated State and Federal guidelines, East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc. is adopting a revised protocol for all work sites. Key points and new policies are outlined within. 

Effective immediately, the following protocol and measures will be followed in place for all jobsites until such time as new CDC and State guidelines are issued. 

All East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc is recommending employees shall eliminate carpooling when possible, as recommended by health officials. If only means of transportation PPE highly recommended. 

East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc has instituted a 100% mask policy (in accordance with CDC guidelines which shall completely cover the nose and mouth). The mask policy is the same as it has been in regards to working around the dust reflected by hygienic monitoring done in recent past. This includes the wearing masks when on site. Masks also must be worn when social distance is not possible due to the work tasks, and closer than 6 feet, masks should be worn. This is for protection of spreading germs. For this occurrence your issued mask will suffice or any other CDC recommended face covering for germ spread. In addition, we are implementing 100% glove policy (cut-resistant gloves, work gloves, or rubber coated gloves depending on tasks.) for all employees. We also will be providing safety glasses or goggles, surgical type gloves to wear under gloves and/or for lunch. 

In addition to the aforementioned equipment, East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc shall provide soap or sanitizer to each person for personal usage as needed on site. 

We have already begun issuing “PPE Bags” this week to each active employee that includes all the aforementioned equipment. Each bag will have the weeks supply until the following week and will be issued each Thursday. 

ENTRY TO PROJECT WITH “CLOSED BUILDING ENVELOPES”: 

If required by GC/owner or site safety, each worker will be temperature screened prior to entering the specific site by a trained Temperature Coordinator provided by the General Contractor. Any employees having a temperature higher than 100.3 degrees will not be allowed into the site. 

Workers will be allowed to begin work only after a General Contractor Compliance officer has reviewed any required Certification sheets. 

All workers need to practice social distancing at all times. When an activity requires invading the 6 ft policy masks and gloves must be worn 100% of this time. 

Prior to any individual beginning any work, the foreman from East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc will confirm that all individuals working under their management do not have any typical symptoms of COVID-19, have no signs of a fever above 

100.3 degrees, have not had a cough or trouble breathing in the last 24 hours, have not had “close contact” with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19, and have not been asked to self- isolate or quarantine by their doctor or a local public health official. All employees shall take advantage of the General Contractor installed handwashing stations. Handwashing stations should be monitored and cleaned on a regular basis throughout the day by the General Contractor to ensure they are stocked and clean. 

BREAKS/LUNCH: 

We recommend you pack a lunch, if necessary and you must leave ,When leaving a construction site for breaks, lunch, or other reasons, all employees are required to wash hands with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer for at least 20 seconds before leaving the site and must maintain social distancing if traveling to other locations off the construction site. 

All General Contractors/projects shall ensure that any daily toolbox talks are held outside, follow social distancing guidelines (6’ limits), and all toolbox talks shall include a question to each individual as to whether or not they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. 

General Contractors shall enforce that no congregating occurs in groups larger than 5 or less, and that all work is completed with individuals more than 6’ from one another whenever possible. 

At break/lunch East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc employees shall ensure that social distancing and groups with less than 5 people are maintained, along with immediate and complete cleanup of break area to designated trash area on site. 

• East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc employees shall not enter into to any GC offices on site. 

OTHER PRECAUTIONS: 

• Daily disinfection procedures shall be enacted at all onsite equipment, cell phones, etc. 

• In the event an employee on-site reports symptom consistent with COVID-19, that individual shall be immediately sent home and directed to review their symptoms with a medical professional. The Lead foreman shall communicate immediately with the office to determine all subsequent actions. 

• In the event an East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc employee who is/was on-site reports a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, The East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc ,Lead foreman shall communicate immediately with the office to determine all subsequent actions. These actions will be relayed to Field Operations and follow up actions will follow as required. 

• All impacted workers should follow CDC and the Massachusetts Department of Health (DPH) recommended steps concerning return to work. Workers who are considered close contacts to a COVID-19 case by public health authorities should not return to work for 14 days or as directed by a healthcare provider or public health official. Workers who leave during the work day due to COVID-19 symptoms and develop COVID-19 as confirmed by laboratory testing or diagnosis by a healthcare provider shall not return to the site until either released from isolation by a healthcare provider or public health official. 

Be advised that these rules have been reviewed with all East Coast Fireproofing Co., Inc employees with ZERO TOLERANCE. Any employee that does not abide by these rules shall not be allowed to work.
